The three online learning modules in this course are designed to provide rural and remote psychiatrists with an interactive learning experience to both learn about and practice self-care. Each module contains information, activities and resources to assist you to look after yourself – physically, mentally and emotionally.

The modules provide information on recognising one’s own and other people’s cultural expectations; intercultural communication; the links among values, beliefs and behaviours; and strategic skills for cultural adaptation. There is also a range of activities to promote self-reflection regarding the impact of cultural issues on medical practice.

‘Navigating communication’ is designed to assist practitioners to further develop their cultural awareness and understanding within Aboriginal health delivery. Practical advice and suggestions are provided by experts in the field and members of the Aboriginal community.
